Thanks for visiting the site! This is my first attempt at a website, so thanks for your patience! Bryan's been busy with training, so here's my attempt at keeping everyone updated with our latest adventures. Even if by adventure I mean the latest developments of Acadia!

What we're doing: Bryan As for me... Acadia Maggie |
Spring 2006
| We moved in early March and settled in quite nicely. This picture is one of my favorites. Acadia fights off sleep which can prove to be tough at nap and bedtimes. Here you can see Bryan joined in. | ||
Acadia loved her playmat! |
Maggie is always protecting her little sister. Now we have to protect Maggie from Acadia, as she's always trying to "pet" her (which means Acadia ends up with a fist full of Maggie hair). |

Summer started off with Bryan's sister Anne and her family visiting. We went to Pensacola Beach and Navarre beach. Here's a cute pic of Hannah (2), Joey (4.5) and Acadia (6 months) at the beach. It was great to see family. Even after running around with three kids all day, we still found time for a nightcap, cards, and lots of great conversation. |
Here's a great pic of me smooching my favorite girl. |

| Later in June we decided it was time for Acadia to go swimming in the ocean, too. Here's the test run in our kiddie pool in the backyard. | My sister Pam came to visit and we had a blast. She was able to take some family pictures of us enjoying the beautiful Gulf of Mexico! |

Hello? Is this thing on? Grandma Jean thought she needed her own cell phone. |
Acadia hopped in the passenger seat of Bryan's car as he came home from flying one day.
Note the plywood on the right, that's for hurricanes!
We try to have music time daily. Here Acadia's working on her improv while I'm laying down a 12 bar blues pattern.
This was taken while Bryan's parents were visiting in August. The T-34 is what Bryan is flying. Here his dad is sitting in the cockpit.
Bryan's brother Frankie visited over Labor Day! We boiled blue crabs, which were delicious.
Here's the cutie in her crib. This was taken early in the summer because her mobile is still up. |
This picture and the one below are possibly my favorites. Here's the toothless wonder with her first bathie coif. |

I couldn't miss the opportunity to snap this family moment. |

I propped her up on the back of the couch and couldn't figure out why she was so content.... |
Until I saw what she was watching! |
| We got Acadia a Bumbo chair since she no longer fit in her bouncy seat and wasn't quite stable enough on her own. |
| Here she's sitting up on her own in her pack n play with her other noisy toy (other than the cell phone). She loves this dog from Grandma Guidry. Hmmmm, all the noisy toys are from grandmas. We made a pact with Anne and Tom that if we don't get noisy toys for them, they won't for us. |

Bryan calls this one "eyes". |
Here's the first tooth! Can you see it? It's on her left. |
Maggie (as always) is watching her little sister. |
Her grin is infectious! |

Acadia's First Birthday January 9, 2007 |
Bryan had to fly that evening, so we had a birthday brunch complete with waffle cake! Here's the before... |

...and after!! |
Here's Acadia in her new chair from Auntie Becky. |
She's pretty good at standing and taking the occassional wobble. |
Acadia loves her walker from Uncle Frank. |
True to her cajun roots one of her favorite foods is rice. |

We thought the big news this week was that she was eating cheerios... but then we saw that Acadia is getting her first tooth! We noticed a little white nubbin coming in on her bottom left jaw yesterday (Saturday, September 16, 2006). It's so odd... the first few months went by so slow, with so much crying. Now time seems to be slipping away faster than ever. I felt the milestone when she sat up in her stroller like a "big girl", now teeth. As Bryan says, she's looking more and more like a littler girl and less like a baby. Such is the life of an eight month old! Bryan and I have a new appreciation for our parents. Just as we think we've figured "it" out, there's a new stage. Bryan keeps telling me to wait until that first day of school.... I told him that we've got to get past the first tooth! In the meantime he's enjoying flight school and occassionally working on his car (Texzan). We're really savoring all the down time he has, as once he finishes Navy training and gets back to the Air Force we know he'll be pulling lots more 12+ hour days. I'm playing around with the format of this page, trying to figure out the most efficient layout. Please email me to let me know what you think!
Wonderings on Monday, September 18, 2006 - Happy Birthday Papa Guidry!
I don't expect to write here everyday, but I'm trying to get the site up and running. Acadia is doing full on push-ups. She's a roly poly. Between her increased mobility and teething we're a tired household. It's a good thing I'm in between classes right now. I'm laughing right now because Bryan is watching Acadia and Maggie and has been chasing them both around the room (it looks a bit like a circus). We have started putting some stuffed animals in Acadia's crib. Those keep her happy when she wakes up in the morning. We LOVE having a DVR as Bryan's able to catch his Cowboys and I have something good to watch while nursing. I'll leave you with what was just spoken in the Guidry household: Bryan: "Maggie! you can't play with Acadia's toys. Acadia! You can't play with Maggie's toys". Thunder and Blazes would be appropriate right now (the circus theme song).

This past week has been great! Bryan passed his solo, which is like a mid-term. He flies solo tomorrow to practice the aerobatics that he's been learning. He's enjoying all the loops and barrel rolls, as when he flies the heavies, there will be none of that! Next Sunday, October 1, he'll be 31! I woke up this morning around five and heard Acadia playing in her crib with her stuffed animals and her aquarium. We go to church early and so by the time we come home she's ready for a nap and I'm ready for brunch. I never had grits until I was married and recently found a recipe that I like. Bryan loves the movie My Cousin Vinny and the grit scene. Today I indulged in one of my favorite activities.... Acadia and I took a nap together :). I don't do it often, but we both needed it! We think she'll be crawling within the next few weeks, she's already pretty mobile. Maggie is always so good with Acadia. That having been said, Maggie got a little excited and jumped OVER Acadia. Needless to say, Acadia was scared and so was Maggie! Never a dull moment with those two! I have one more week of vacation, then I start my research class, yikes. My mom and sister Pam are visiting my sister Becky in Africa. It's kinda crazy... half of my family is in Africa and the other half in the US! We're literally a world apart! Well, Acadia's starting to fuss, Maggie's playing in the rain, and there's football to watch! More later!!

Phew time flies! Bryan finished aerobatics and is now starting the classes for formation flying. My fall quarter has started and am busy busy. Acadia is getting her third tooth in. Boy this teething thing is rough! I'm glad Bryan's been home a little bit more to help with the soothing. We put Melaleuca oil on her gums and that makes her feel better. She's so close to crawling. Her little knees are sometimes raw from trying so long. She's definitely frustrated she can't move any faster. The weather here is starting to cool off and the days are picture perfect. Maggie often goes outside to nap in the grass :). Acadia and I are going up to Minnesota for my parents' 40th anniversary party. I'm a little nervous about flying with her, as we have a connection in Atlanta. I remember flying pre-child how people seemed to shoot daggers at those with young children. I'm excited to go up there, though. The leaves will be changing and it'll be the first time my extended family will see Acadia. We are planning a trip to the apple orchard by my parents house.. I can taste the cider donuts already! It'll be one of those rare occassions when all of us Savoie girls will be in the same place at the same time. Mainly I'm excited for my parents to spend some QT with Acadia. Time to go study!
Wonderings on Saturday, October 28, 2006
Acadia and I had a FANTASTIC trip to Minnesota. My parents' anniversary party went really well. I think my favorite part was before the party. The immediate family went to mass at the Cathedral in St. Paul (where my parents are parishoners) where they renewed their vows in the Mary chapel before mass. The choir was singing and we all got a little teary eyed. It was so good to have the family together. With the four of us girls living all over the globe, it's tough to get us all together in one place. Seeing my parents and sisters with Acadia was such a joy. Acadia did really well. While there she mastered the art of crawling. The flights went well for the most part. I got this attachment for the carseat that has wheels and a telescoping handle, which turned it into an indoor stroller. That was great, it even fit down the isle of the airplane. While in MN my mom loved showing off her "one and only grandbaby" to anyone and everyone. Of course my extended family got in on the fun, too. I was thankful my aunts and grandmother were able spend some time with Acadia as well. I really love the fall and was glad to see some color in MN (even if it snowed a little the day we arrived and left). I think the only downside of the trip was after we came home, both Acadia and I came down with a cold. That is tough when we don't feel well and Bryan was at work. We're getting over it and gearing up for halloween. While we were in MN Bryan had the "best flight of his life" where they flew down the coastline 500 feet up for 50 miles in formation. So cool. Now that Acadia's VERY mobile I'm having to re-learn how to get things done. This morning we went to a local dogpark where Maggie got to play with other dogs while Bryan, Acadia, and I enjoyed the beautiful weather. All in all I realize how important family is to me and how blessed I am to have (and be married into) such a great one!
Wonderings on Sunday, January 28, 2007
Wow has time flown! The holidays came and went. For Thanksgiving we stayed home and for Christmas we went to Dallas where we stayed with Bryan's family and my family visited my sister Collette. The only one we missed was Becky who was still in Africa. The time went by quickly and reminded us how much family means to us. Acadia has been pulling herself up onto furniture for quite some time. Since Frankie gave her the walker (see pics) she's been more apt to attempt to walk. We're not pushing her, as we figure once she starts walking, she'll be doing it for the rest of her life! We've started weaning and she's slowly taking to a sippy cup. She's eating just about everything we do. She's imitating us a lot. She's taken to saying "good girl" (as we encouraged her to drink by clapping and saying good girl) and knows puppy. We go do the local dog park every weekend and just about every day Maggie and one of the various neighborhood dogs end up playing in our backyard. Next weekend we're having a Relay for Life block party to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Bryan completed this phase of flight school and we're moving back to Columbus AFB around the beginning of March. We are really going to miss this area. We didn't think places like this still existed. Neighbors are always outside chatting and stop by to chat, kids are always playing and dogs are always welcome. We've found that wherever we land, there always seems to be good folk and great memories. It's exciting to think about all places and people we'll meet in the future! School is going well. I really enjoy my online classes and learning environment. It's very interactive. We're headed for the dog park now with our neighbors. More later!
